Pia walang ‘battle plan’ sa Fashion Week: I didn’t want this to be a competition

WALANG paligsahan o hindi kompetisyon ang Fashion Week.
‘Yan ang naging sentimyento ni Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach sa kabila ng sunod-sunod na paglutang ng kanyang pangalan sa fashion events na karaniwang ginaganap sa Paris at Milan.
Sa isang panayam ng Preview magazine, inamin ng beauty queen-turned-style icon na ayaw niyang makipagkumpitensya sa mundo ng fashion.
“I didn’t want this to be a competition. No, I didn’t want it to be… Like, come on, I just came from a competition a couple of years ago. I don’t want to be in another one,” pahayag ni Pia sa nasabing interview.

Ayon pa sa beauty queen, mas gusto niyang makilala ang sarili sa panibagong journey na pinasok niya –hindi lang daw sa pagiging beauty queen, kundi bilang isang taong may bagong pananaw at panlasa sa fashion.
“[I was going to] have to introduce myself as who I was [at that moment]. Who am I outside of pageants? What am I doing here? How do I want to position myself? How do I want them to remember me?” sey niya.
Kasabay nito, ibinahagi rin ni Pia kung bakit pinili niyang gamitin ang apelyido ng kanyang asawang si Jeremy Jauncey: “One day when we have kids, I would want them to see that we share the same last name as their dad.”
It’s a bit of a traditional move for Jeremy, but it doesn’t really bother me,” wika pa niya.
Simula noong 2023, patuloy ang pag-angat ni Pia bilang fashion maven na kung saan ay lumabas siya sa iba’t ibang listahan ng mga “influencers to watch out for.”
Bukod diyan ay palagi rin siyang present sa mga bigating Fashion Week shows sa Europe.
Ngunit hindi maiiwasang maikumpara siya sa isa pang Pinay at fashion icon na si Heart Evangelista na nauna nang nakilala sa nasabing industriya.
Matagal nang usap-usapan ang tensyon umano sa pagitan ng dalawa matapos lumipat sa kampo ni Pia ang dating glam team ni Heart.
Pero nilinaw na ito ni Heart noong October 2024: “Woman to woman, I never had a problem with Pia [Wurtzbach]. I was one of those who cheered for her in the past. And I’d like to think that it was the same for her. She was so sweet enough to post the hashtag ‘Heart made do it.’ And at the time, I was so touched.”
Dagdag niya, “But it’s the people she chose to surround herself with for specific reasons that make this whole thing problematic.”
Tahimik naman si Pia sa isyung ito at hindi pa naglalabas ng anumang pahayag ukol dito.
